Kingbridge Centre Wedding Photography – Leslie & Jonathan

LESLIE AND JONATHAN’S AURORA UNITED CHURCH AND THE KINGBRIDGE CENTRE WEDDING

A few months ago I had the opportunity to work with a lovely couple that heard about my sincere approach towards documentary wedding photography through a former classmate. I still recall the initial meeting and the subsequent confusion—I thought I got stood up! We were scheduled to meet at a café on Centre St. in Thornhill, on the border of Vaughan and Markham. I’m not certain where the miscommunication took place, but they ended up at a Centre St., but in the wrong city—Richmond Hill to be exact. Since neither Leslie or Jonathan had a mobile phone that I could reliably reach, I ended up playing a game of telephone relay with Leslie’s father. Forty-five minutes and through a thicket of Yonge St. traffic later, they arrived and we had the pleasure to meet in person to discuss their Kingbridge Centre wedding.

I ended up having the privilege of working with Leslie and Jonathan because they gravitated towards my style and thought it would be perfect for the Kingbridge Centre wedding. My documentary work emphasizes a discreet and hands-off approach. I encourage couples to enjoy their wedding day as it naturally unfolds, without wasting time and nerves on being posed and directed into photographs that add no real substance to the narrative of the day. This is unlike most Toronto wedding photographers who pad their portfolios with staged shots of the bride and groom in various forms of embrace (and throw in a few over the top VSCO filters to boot).

For two weeks leading up to the wedding day, the weather forecast called for doom and gloom: sporadic thundershowers throughout the day. When the actual wedding day came, the weather turned out to be quite tolerable. There were a few spittles of rain, especially throughout the morning. Towards the late afternoon and evening, the clouds parted here and there and turned the sky into a lovely semi-directional soft-box. Luckily enough, the light was at its most flattering at the time we scheduled for the family portraits at Kingbridge Conference Centre. Once such mandatory shots were out of the way, Jonathan and Leslie went on to enjoy their first party as husband and wife.

Below is a selection of my favourite photographs from Leslie and Jonathan’s Kingbridge Centre wedding. If you are planning a wedding and would like the very best documentary wedding photography that Toronto has to offer, please don’t hesitate to contact me to reserve a meeting.
