In mid-May, I was given the opportunity to photograph an intimate wedding at Castello Dal Pozzo (read their blog here) The castle, which is now a hotel, is found in the Italian province of Novaro, and is about an hour north-west of Milan.
The grounds of the estate and the castle itself are ineffably beautiful, and a far cry from the typical event spaces found in and around Toronto—I’m looking at you, banquet halls! How Polina and Luigi managed to secure such a classy location while holding one of the most intimate and relaxed weddings I’ve ever experienced is beyond me.
I really enjoy shooting weddings that allow events to unfold organically, without being planned and regimented down to the minute. Relinquishing control of your big day may be a tough decision for some people to make, but the results are immensely rewarding. At the end of the day, most of the people in attendance will only remember three things: the location, the food, and your outfits. No one will appreciate the impeccable timing, just like no one will remember when a beat is missed or bride is late.
Remember, be yourself, think outside the box, relax, and enjoy your wedding day. :-)
